NEW YORK (USA): In an interview with Boston marathon winner Caroline Kilel the Kenyan athlete said she will most likely run some road races in The Netherlands in June and will prepare for a fall marathon even though it is still unsure where she will be competing. Options are New York, Chicago and Berlin but also Amsterdam, with its flat course, might be interesting. Kilel’s main aim is to gain selection for the London Olympic Games.
AUCKLAND (NZL): Teenage shot put sensation Jacko Gill believes he could be an Olympic Games medal chance in London at his current rate of improvement. Gill just smashed the 20m barrier for the first time at the age of 16 and in the process reached the IAAF qualifying mark for the 2012. Gill became the youngest athlete, at 16 years 4 months, and the lightest (94kg) to throw over 20m and said to be “stoked” to reach the mark after taking a year off school to train fulltime in a bid to achieve his Olympic dream writes stuff.co.nz.
