NAIROBI (KEN): East Standard informs that Athletics Kenya (AK) made what they termed ‘the final verdict’ on the matter regarding the axing of Leonard Komon from the Punta Umbria World Cross team, stating he would not be re-instated. However, the issue seems far from over as Komon, the 2008 World Cross senior silver medallist, informed FeverPitch he had not met federation officials to resolve the issue as the executive members who were present at yesterday’s media briefing stressed. In other action the succesfull national CC team at African Championships in Cape Town remained stranded in South Africa. They did not board the plane from Johannesburg to Nairobi. This was the second travel hitch to hit the Africa Cross team as six athletes and an official missed their Thursday flight to Johannesburg when the names on their passports and tickets differed in yet another mix-up. They travelled a day later to join their colleagues.

KINGSTON (JAM): Hurdles world champion Brigitte Foster-Hylton explained that her non-finish this weekend when competing in the 400m was only precautionary. Foster-Hylton, who will be defending her world championships title this summer in Daegu, confirmed it had nothing to do with the hamstring injury that kept her away from competing in the last 11 months.
