KINGSTON (JAM): World and Olympic champion Usain Bolt believes training partner Yohan Blake will be the next great sprinter that will emerge from the sprint factory of Jamaica.

LONDON (GBR): Timesonline.co.uk is writing that interesting piece about disgraced sprinters Marion Jones and Tim Montgomery. Last year, Jones served six months in prison for perjury. The year before she married Barbados sprinter Obadele Thompson with whom she has had another child after the first one with Montgomery. Tim Montgomery says that their relationship is so torn that he has not seen their son for three years. „I wrote to Marion from prison,“ he says. „I said, ‚I know we‘ve been through a lot of things, I know we‘ve both done wrong things. And I wish you the best. But I can‘t figure out why I can‘t see my son. She never wrote back.“

REGENSBURG (GER): German club LG Telis Finanz Regensburg will have new star-member. It is Luxemburg´s 2006 European silver winner at 800 m David Fiegen with national record 1:44.83. PARIS (FRA): French long jump record holder Salim Sdiri said for federation website that is next goal is to compete at World Indoor Championships in Doha. He improved the national mark last summer to 842 and was 6th at World Championships in Berlin. At World Indoors his best position so far is 8th in Birmingham 2003. In summer the European Championships is the top highlight. He expects great competition there mainly from German Sebastian Bayer and Greek record holder Luis Tsatoumas.

NDIANAPOLIS (USA): Former great marathon runner Alberto Salazar, who led Galen Rupp, Dathan Ritzenhein and Kara Goucher to career best performances this past season, has been named the 2009 Nike Coach of the Year by USA Track & Field. Salazar will be honored Saturday, December 5 at the Jesse Owens Awards and Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, held in conjunction with USA Track & Field‘s 2009 Annual Meeting in Indianapolis. BEIJING (CHN): Athens 2004 110 m hurdles Olympic champion Liu Xiang will lead a star-studded Chinese squad in the 5th East Asian Games in Hong Kong. The dates for the event are Dec 5 – 13 and it is the largest multi-sport competition ever staged in Hong Kong. Athletics will be held in second part (Dec 10-13).

CHEMNITZ (GER): The 15th edition of traditional indoor meeting in Chemnitz will not be held this year due to reconstruction of the track.

HAMBURG (GER): European Indoor long jump champion Sebastian Bayer is changing his club. From Bremen LT he is going to Hamburger SV. His girl-friend and hurdler Carolin Nytra will not go that way and will remain in Bremen. Bayer is contracted for his new club until 2012. He will most probably miss the indoor season 2010.

Spanish veteran Jesus Angel Garcia was third (20:20). In the women 3 km the 2007 winner Agnese Ragonesi won in 13:03 ahead of Swiss Laura Polli (13:05).

SAO PAULO (BRA, Nov 22): Also here Kenyan wins at Sao Paulo 10 km road race for Titus Kibii (29:38) and Maurine Jelagat (34:26).

WESTMEATH (IRL, Nov 22): Andrew Ledwith won the Irish Intercounties CC Championships at Kilbeggan Racecourse with 29:45 at 10 km. Second Sean Connolly achieved 30:08 and third Mark Kennealy (30:12). Mary Cullen was the best in the women´s 8 km (26:50) beating clearly Deirdre Byrne (27:43) and Linda Byrne (27:44). For the home country it was the another qualifier for Dublin.

MOSCOW (RUS): European Indoor High Jump champion Ivan Ukhov married on Friday Russian singer Polina Frolova. The ceremony was held in Moscow, also attended by deputy Chief of Sports for the City. Ukhov plans full indoor season and is reported to be already in solid shape after training camp in Cyprus. He jumped last winter 240 as the only one in 2009 indoors or outdoors.

LLODIO (ESP): Despite the financial crisis and 18% cut in the budget still the Cross Internacional Valle de Llodio (European Athletics Permit) will offer in its 26th edition on Sunday excellent fields. Main star will be 10 000 m world champion Linet Masai of Kenya who will run at the 7.64 km of Circuito de Ellakuri and will try to defend her last year win here. It will be her first race since 10 miles on the road in September. Another world medalist will be steeple bronze holder Milcah Chemos from Kenya along with strong Portugal Ines Monteiro who is European CC 2008 bronze medalist with home Rosa Morato, the steeple specialist. Also mentioned in some reports is middle distance runner Nuria Fernandez. Last time an European runner won here was in 2005 when Hungarian Aniko Kalovics was the best. In the men field at 9.76 km Kenyan Leonard Komon is the main name. He won bronze at World CC Championships 2008 and was fourth this year. Ugandan long distance record holder Boniface Kiprop is returning after groin injury when he was missing the whole track season 2009. Kiprop is Olympics and Worlds fourth placer and former world junior record holder at 10 000 m. Swedish steeple record holder Mustafa Mohamed is also entered. Home armada is headed by national champion on terrain Alemayehu Bezabeh who in last two weekends achieved great positions, second in Burgos and winner in Quintanar. Carles Castillejo and Sergio Sanchez are other names to mention also in the process of Spanish selection for Dublin.

LOS ANGELES (USA): At Universal Sport website a vote is staged recommending Usain Bolt his new challenge. Currently 62% of voters are in favor Bolt to run the 400 m, next bigger group recommends that he stays with 100 m and 200 m, another group thinks he should play NFL and the smalles group says he should play pro cricket.

LONDON (GBR): British female world indoor 60 m medalist Jeanette Kwakye (26) had a knee surgery last week after an Achilles operation two months earlier. Writes Timesonline. “My perspective of track and field would be very different now if my London 2012 was not there,” she was quoted. At Beijing Games she was sixth in the 100 m finals. “I had an agenda for next year. Indoors is my house and I was going to come out and show that it’s not just an American and Caribbean party.” The indoor season will be too soon for her, but she hopes to return for the European Championships in Barcelona next July.

LONDON (GBR): The 2009 World Championships site Berlin was voted second best sports city in the world at the Sport Event Management Awards 2009. German media are informing. Number one is Melbourne and third place for Doha, Qatar. In 2008 ranking Berlin was third behind Manchester and Melbourne.

MELBOURNE (AUS): Australian multiple national champion at 100 m Joshua Ross (28) announced his retirement from athletics. He clocked his best 10.08 in 2007 and is third fastest ever Australian. After 10 years in the sport the 28-year-old Melbourne-based athlete said it was time to move on to the next phase of his life. He was world semifinalist in 2005 at 100 m and relay finalist at Olympic Games 2004 and World Championships 2005.

WARSZAWA (POL): Walking great Robert Korzeniowski is no longer chief of Sports of public television station in Poland TVP. He was replaced by Wlodzimierz Szaranowicz (60) who was commentator on many last Olympic Games and Athletics World and European Championships. Szanarowicz was also famous for his commentary from ski jumping when Adam Malysz was winning.

SPRINGFIELD (USA, Nov 14): Chris Derrick won the 10 km CC race at NCAA West Regional meet after 30:39. In women´s 6 km Kendra Schaaf clocked 20:42 to beat clearly young star Jordan Hasay (20:52).

KRAKOW (POL, Nov 11): At 21st Independence 10 km road race 5244 runners were entered. Rafal Wojcik was the best man in 30:27 and half-marathon national champion Agnieszka Gortel won the women race in 34:44 ahead of Anna Jakubczak (34:51).

LEVERKUSEN (GER): German decathlon hope Michael Schrader who won this year the prestigious Gotzis event changed the clubs. He moved from LAV Bayer Uerdingen/Dormagen to TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen. But his coach will still remain the 1987 World Champion Torsten Voss. Schrader was 10th in Beijing and improved this year to 8522 points, but early July was forced to stop the season because of a stress fracture.

MONTREAL (CAN): World relay champion and individual twice silver medalist at 100 m Bruny Surin of Canada is returning to the track. At least to break the Canadian 40+ indoor record which stands at 7.09 at 60 metres. He is now 42 and still has the Canadian record 6.45 at 60 m from 1991. McGill Fieldhouse should see the race at 60 m on December 5. He ended his career in 2002 and from then on works in different areas as speaker, has his foundation and created athletes representation company.
