EDINBURGH (GBR): Fresh Euro CC winner Serhiy Lebid will captain the Europe Select Team in the Men’s International Team Challenge at the Bupa Great Edinburgh Cross Country on 8 January, the fourth meeting of the IAAF Cross Country Permit series 2010/11. Writes David Martin. The 35-year-old Ukrainian immediately accepted an invitation not only to compete at the Bupa Great Edinburgh Cross Country but also skipper the European side in Holyrood Park.


BERLIN (GER): Michael Vesper, General Director of Germany’s Olympic Committee (DOSB), has dismissed allegations from German privacy groups that the whereabouts rule of anti-doping control is against the law. ‘Privacy and doping control system are compatible. The athletes submit themselves voluntarily to the system in order to exercise their sport under fair conditions,’ Vesper said for the German press agency DPA. Privacy groups have reportedly drafted a request to sports clubs and federations in which they ask them to refrain from demanding their athletes’ submission to NADA rules. A privacy group representative, Edgar Wagner, said that the NADA system is an ‘intolerable invasion of their privacy’ and against the law writes monstersandcritics.com.
