BERLIN (GER): European championships 400m hurdles finalist Fabienne Kohlmann will skip the indoor season due to injury. In 2010 Kohlmann had prepared for the outdoor season with a series of 800m races. Other German athlete Carolyn Nytra will leave Bremen and move to Mannheim to train with federation’s coach RĂ¼diger Harksen writes leichtathletik.de.

SYDNEY (AUS): National 10 000 m record-holder and Commonwealth Games finalist Collis Birmingham is looking to join Australian athletics legends Ron Clarke, Steve Moneghetti and Andrew Lloyd as a three-time winner of the Zatopek:10, with the Victorian announcing he’ll be racing the 50th anniversary edition of the track classic next month at Olympic Park, Melbourne. Birmingham will be amongst the race favourites come December 9, with fellow Commonwealth Games representative and 2010 City-2-Surf winner Ben St Lawrence, world cross country representative Liam Adams, and 2008 NCAA Track and Field Championships 10,000m runner-up Shaun Forrest all confirmed to line up in the feature men’s race at Olympic Park.
