AUCKLAND (NZL): Middle distance legend Sir John Walker is to present the Olympic silver medal to Beijing 1500m medallist Nick Willis at the International Track Meet in Christchurch on February 26, the New Zealand Olympic Committee has announced. Willis originally received the bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games but that was subsequently upgraded to silver following the disqualification of Rashid Ramzi for a doping violation. Willis expressed his delight at being presented with the medal by his boyhood hero, describing it as “a great, great honour” writes stuff.co.nz.

GENT (BEL): Highlighting this weekend’s Belgian national championships is the duel between Elisabeth Davin and European junior 100m hurdles champion Anne Zagré in the 60m hurdles. Davin will also compete in the 60m in which she hopes to qualify for the European indoor championships. For sure Davin will face solid opposition from Dutch 60m champion Dafne Schippers who runs as a guest. Jan Van den Broeck (800m) and Kristof Van Malderen (1500m) highlight the distance events. Adrien Deghelt is the clear favorite in the 60m hurdles after running 7.60 last weekend.
