RESULT OF THE SESSION
USA world leading 2:58.82 in the 4x400 m relay (Berry 43.7 split), still saving McQuay and Taylor, possibly B. Jackson. David Storl again improved his European U23 shot put record to 21.50 m. Dutch Dafne Schippers bettered the national senior record to 22.69 in the 200 m heats (-0.3) and is now 6th best ever junior in Europe and all results ahead of her coming from 1980-1991, also 6th best European senior result of 2011.

SURPRISE OF THE SESSION
Olympic winner 2008 Irving Saladino out from long jump, 784 cm. On the other hand positive surprise from long jump world champion Dwight Phillips without competing since June 25 and having only 3 competitions during the whole year was the best with excellent 832 cm.

SP : 21.50m by David Storl is the second longest throw in the qualifying round of World Championships. 20.06 by Marco Schmidt is the longest non-qualifer for the final at WC.

JAMAICA: Grace Jackson, team leader of the Jamaican delegation here in Daegu at the IAAF World Championships in Athletics, has registered her disappointment with the food offering inside the Athletes' Village and has called for the provision of a chef for teams travelling at major championships in the future. Jackson shared that the entire Jamaican delegation, including the athletes, are far from impressed with the options here, and relayed the difficulties faced with the high concentration of Asian food being presented to the athletes. Writes The Gleaner. National 400m record holder Jermaine Gonzales complained about the food after his fourth-place finish in the final on Tuesday, but he isn't the only one having difficulties.
