MONTE CARLO (MON): IAAF ratified one of the two male world indoor records broken this winter. The 17.90 by French Teddy Tamgho during last minutes of World Indoor Championships in Doha on March 14. Second global men mark was the heptathlon of Ashton Eaton 6499 which is still waiting for ratification. The only women world record was the 4x800 m by Moscow Team at Russian Championships 8:12.41, also this mark is not yet ratified.
DUSSELDORF (GER): World Marathon Majors winner Irina Mikitenko confirmed she is aiming at qualifying for the European championships 10 000m race at the European cup 10 000m in Marseille early June. Mikitenko had to abandon her attempt of winning the London marathon after 18km because of shin pain. She is currently doing aqua jogging, acupuncture and injections to heal the shin. She also confirmed in an interview for leichtathletik.de that she will participate in another WMM this fall, but is still undecided on which marathon it will be.
