NEW DELHI (IND): Team England has banned its athletes from wearing their England’s gear outside the Commonwealth Games venues as it puts them in risk of kidnapping. Officials also said athletes will only be allowed outside the Games venues in small groups. The British foreign office has claimed there is a high risk of terrorism and have been providing security briefings to the England team on a daily basis. Australian authorities have received intelligence about a plan to take foreign hostages as a reprisal for the country’s activities in Afghanistan, therefore Australian athletes will not be allowed to go to local markets. Security forces in New Delhi have put Britons, Australians, New Zealanders and Canadians on top of their terrorist hit list reports The Daily Mail.

LONDON (GBR): The Birmingham City Council announced plans to redevelop the Alexander Stadium to host the second Samsung Diamond League meet in UK instead of Gateshead. Birmingham hopes to be considered as the nation’s top sporting city. The works will cost up to 19,4 million dollar and will include a new 5,000 seater stand, taking the capacity to 12,800 with room for temporary seating subject to demand. Ahead of the London Olympics Birmingham will host training camps of the United States and Jamaica writes Insidethegames. The 2011 date for Birmingham is July 10.
