OSAKA (JPN): Ken Nakamura posted the invited runners for Osaka Ladies Marathon which will be staged on January 31 next year. Former world champion Lidia Simon of Romania will return to the place where she in 2000 clocked her best 2:22:54. She competed here for first time already in 1997. Serbian record holder Olivera Jevtic and Portugal´s World Championships sixth placer Marisa Barros are other important European entries. Amane Gobena of Ethiopia improved this year to 2:26:53 and Mexican 37-years old Dulce Maria Rodriguez clocked sub 2:30 last time in 2006. Mari Ozaki leads the home group with Kayoko Obata and Yukiko Akaba. Debuting will be two 1:10 half-marathoners Ryoko Kizaki and Azusa Nojiri.
JOHANNESBURG (RSA): Former coach of Caster Semenya Wilfred Daniels told Swedish television that he believes she should sue IAAF and South African Athletics Federation. “She should sue them for loss of earnings and impairment, „says Daniels for SVT. The coach pointed also to the example of Maria Mutola who was surrounded by the same rumors early in her career, and then became a popular face and highly accepted runner. “The IAAF has not done anything wrong, while the South African federation has lied,” says IOC‘s medical chief and former IAAF Vice-President Arne Ljungqvist.
KARLSRUHE (GER): Pole Vault men will be another headline event for BW Bank IAAF Permit in Karlsruhe on January 31 next year. Double silver medalist from Osaka and Berlin French Romain Mesnil will challenge the home elite. That will be represented by world junior record holder Raphael Holzdeppe, current German champion Alexander Straub and experienced Danny Ecker with Tim Lobinger.
