SACRAMENTO (USA, Dec 6): Ethiopians Tesfaye Girma and Buzunesh Deba registered wins at a chilly California International Marathon. Girma used a late surge to pull away from American Josh Cox and won in 2:13:42. Cox finished second in PB of 2:13:51 (and qualified for 2012 men Olympic trials) with Kenyan Kirui Kipyegon third in 2:14:59 in his debut. Writes Sacbee.com. American Mike Morgan, who led the race for nearly 23 miles, finished fourth in 2:15:27. Deba who was 7th in New York City Marathon early last month won in great personal best 2:32:18. Russians followed her. Second Yelena Orlova (39) clocked 2:40:01 and third Galina Alexandrova 2:40:41. Both winners will get 10 000 USD.
