HONG KONG (HKG): Former olympic and world gold medalist Liu Xiang of China is ready to compete at East Asian Games this week in Hong-Kong. That was confirmed by Chinese media after his last check-up on Saturday. A year after Liu had surgery on his right Achilles tendon in Houston, his US doctor, Tom Clanton, arrived Shanghai on Friday to check on his star patient. After reviewing scans of Liu‘s foot and watching him train on Saturday, Clanton, who performed the operation on Liu, said the foot had fully recovered and he could resume intensive training. Liu also plans to run at World Indoor Championships in Doha.

BERLIN (GER): German fifth placer from Olympic Games 2004 at 20 km walk Melanie Seeger plans a comeback after baby-break. The 32 years old mother of daughter Helena wants to compete next year and continue until 2012 Olympic Games in London. Her best is 1:28:17 from 2004 and she was also in the past twice in the top ten at World Championships.
