ROTTERDAM (NED): Some interesting stats provided by Ken Nakamura. Patrick Makau ran the fastest marathon (2:04:48) as a 25 years old. Geoffrey Mutai the fastest for 28 years old as second, fourth Feyisa Lelisa of Ethiopia (2:05:23) the fastest for fourth place and for 20 years old runner. Third Vincent Kipruto is now fourth fastest marathon runner ever based on the criteria of average of top three performances since 2007. His average is 2:05:43, behind Gebrselassie‘s 2:04:26, Wanjiru‘s 2:05:25 and Tsegaye Kebede‘s 2:05:36. Mutai, who finished second in Rotterdam, improved his average to 2:06:35. Rotterdam Marathon is now the fastest marathon based on average statistics. After Sunday the average of top 10 performances in Rotterdam is 2:05:15, 15 seconds faster than the average for Berlin. The average of top 10 performances since 2007 in Rotterdam is now 2:05:20, 29 seconds faster than the average in London. Makau covered the last 2.195Km in 6:10, which is same as Ronald da Costa‘s last 2.195Km when he set his world record. But still slower than 6:05 Mutai took in the final 2.195Km in 2009 Eindhoven marathon. Makau covered the last 7.195Km in 20:56, two seconds slower than the Haile Gebrselassie‘s time when he set his world record.
