ANTWERP (BEL): The marathon of Antwerp is celebrating its 25th edition with a record number of 26.500 athletes scheduled to compete on Sunday in different races. Kenyan Dismas Lotira is the favorite for the win with his personal best of 2:13.35. He will be accompanied by compatriots Nahashon Kimaiyo and Luke Kipkosgei who both will make their debut in the marathon. Belgium‘s favorite is Gino Van Geyte.

NEW YORK (USA): Reigning ING New York City Marathon champion Meb Keflezighi announced he is forming a charitable foundation called the MEB foundation. It will support a number of causes in health, fitness and education. There are no specific projects selected yet where the foundation will make donations however Keflezighi’s connection to his native Eritrea will be an influence. The ING New York City Marathon had granted the foundation 20 charity entry spots in this year‘s race where Kefleghizi will defend his title on November 7. Informs RRW.
