European Team Championships News
MADRID (ESP): Spain has released the names for its team at the SPAR European Team Championships in Bergen, Norway. Ruth Beitia will lead the women’s team along with Mercedes Chilla in the javelin throw and Natalia Rodriguez in the 3000m. On the men’s team Diego Ruiz starts in the 1500m, Jesus Espana in the 3000m and Alemayehu Bezabeh in the 5000m. Jackson Quinonez will run the 110m hurdles and Angel David Rodriguez the 100m and 200m.

LONDON (GBR): Steve Cram will celebrate the silver jubilee of his 1985 season with a special charity dinner (July 15) that will be attended by several athletics legends confirms insidethegames. Cram set three world records in 19 days in 1985 and has invited his formal rivals Sebastian Coe, Said Aouita and John Walker to join the dinner. Also present will be Dame Kelly Holmes, Michael Johnson, Paula Radcliffe and Bernard Lagat. All proceeds from the dinner will go to Children’s charity Comrades of Children Overseas (COOO).

RESULTS

HEROUVILLE (FRA, Jun 16): Wind played a role at this D1 category meet in France. Former world champion Kim Collins (34) had more luck with 10.38 win and +1.8 wind than Damu Cherry with 12.90 at 100 m hurdles and wind +2.1. Fred Townsend of USA clocked 13.50 at 110 m hurdles but with +3.7. Tosin Oke achieved in triple jump 16.75 (+1.6).
