NEW YORK (USA): American 100m record holder Tyson Gay has made it clear he will not quit the sport until he ran 9.5 over the 100m. Gay currently holds a personal best of 9.69 which he ran last year in the final of the IAAF World championships. “I want to run 9.5, I think I can. That’s what my goal is and I won’t quit until I’m able to reach that goal.” Gay was quoted by sportinglife.com. Gay is currently struggling with hamstring problem. The Guardian writes that he has been told by a specialist that he may be „running too fast for his body“ after his latest injury setback. „It‘s been bothering me ever since Manchester. It is something coming from my back, something that happened to me years ago – sciatica – something with my nerve, that is causing my hamstring to tighten up,“ he was quoted by the Guardian. It remains to be seen whether he would be able to compete at US Nationals as next target.
