BRUSSELS (BEL): Belgian athlete Monder Rizki ran the standard for the European championships in Huelva, Spain last week but will not be selected to go to the championships. Rizki managed 13:31.60 in the 5000m but has not been attached to the Flemish athletics federation (VAL) or to the Waloonian athletics federation (LBFA) and therefore cannot be selected. Rizki faced a one year ban after not filling in his whereabouts three times but was cleared from the charges as he was not attached to either one of the Belgian federations.
ZHUKOVSKIY (RUS): Russian Athletics General Secretary Mikhail Butov said that the Russian Athletics Federation made a lot of work the 52nd Znamensky Memorial to be included into the IAAF World Challenge and the IAAF World Hammer Throw Challenge. First of all, it was made for the crowd to see and support Tatyana Lysenko at a home stadium. The throwing events will be held at the main stadium. Mikhail Butov said as well, there will be held a seminar for judges in Zhukovskiy one day before the Znamensky Memorial. Tatyana Lysenko said she will try to improve her result of 77.01m achieved in Zhukovskiy 3 years ago. The meeting director Aleksandr Porkhomovskiy said about a provisional list of competitors and noted the Russian 10000m champions and the Russian 10000m team for Barcelona will be defined at the meeting.
