NAIROBI (KEN): Only 14 years old Esther Chemutai knows what she wants in life: beat her grandfather, Ben Jipcho, in athletics. Jipcho was one of Kenya’s top athletes and is a 1972 Olympic 3,000m steeplechase silver medallist and former world record holder. Writes The Nation. She wants to qualify for World CC Championships in junior category. Alice Aprot, the surprise winner in Kisii in December, will also step up her contest in the junior women’s 6km, her only chance to deny Mercy Cherono a share of the Sh1 million AK jackpot.

VIENNA (AUT): Combined eventers will have last chance during this coming weekend to achieve results to qualify for Doha. Dutch athletes will compete at National Championships in Apeldoorn. Austrian in Vienna with Roland Schwarzl trying to go over 6000 points. Special guest in Dusika Hall will be Poland´s Beijing 7th placer Karolina Tyminska. The last qualifying marks in terms of 2010 are for the moment 6156 in heptathlon and 4605 in pentathlon.
