LAUSANNE (SUI): The indoor arenas around Europe came alive in January, with a number of athletes already showing their form after winter training and ready to lay claim to top honors in 2010. Following this, European Athletics is pleased to announce the nominations for the European Athlete of the Month for January representing nine countries. The voting will close on Monday 15 February at noon CET.

RIO DE JANEIRO (BRA): Brazilian IAAF Council member Roberto Gesta de Melo was re-elected president of CONSUDATLE, the South American Athletics Confederation. Representatives of 13 countries took part at the congress of this body. Senior vice-president is Ciro Solano of Colombia and other three vice-presidents Nelson Rodríguez Freites (Venezuela), Marcos Luque (Bolivia) and Ricardo Sasso (Panama).
