MALMO (SWE): Group of top Swedish athletes including high jumper Linus Thornblad, pole vaulter Jesper Fritz and hurdler Philip Nossmy are being left without a coach. It is because Stanislaw Szczyrba their current one is moving to Qatar. They are considering options, even traveling to Qatar, specially Thornblad who is guided by Szczyrba his entire career.

PORT OF SPAIN (TRI): Trinidad and Tobago hammer thrower Candice Scott has announced to retire from the track and field due to persistent knee injuries writes Trinidad and Tobago’s newspaper Newsday. The 29-year-old has been plagued by injuries on both of her knees throughout her career and has given up hope of a full recovery, after missing the majority of the 2009 track and field season. Scott, who is a CARIFTA Games gold medalist and the first English speaking Caribbean to compete in the hammer throw at the Olympics, expressed in a recent television interview her intention to pursue a career in coaching, as well as develop her knowledge in aqua therapy— which she used as part of her rehabilitation. Her national record is 71.45 from 2005 and she is olympic finalist 2004 and double world finalist in 2003 and 2005.
