STUTTGART (GER): Sparkassen Cup registered bad news from British athletes with the withdrawal of 60 m hurdler Andy Turner and long jumper Chris Tomlinson. Writes David Martin. Turner now reinstated to full lottery funding, is still troubled by an Achilles problem whilst Tomlinson the world indoor silver medallist two years ago, is concentrating on training to blow away some technical problems.

DAR EL SALAAM (TAN): Tanzania is sending a team of 12 runners to the IAAF world cross country championships in Poland. The names of the runners are not yet known but the secretary seneral of Athletics Tanzania (AT), former excellent runner Suleiman Nyambui, said the names will be released by the end of the month as the deadline for entry is March 2nd.
