NEW YORK (USA): 1500m world champion Bernard Lagat goes for a record eight Wanamaker title at the 103rd Millrose games announces trackalerts.com. The Millrose games are the first stop in the USATF Visa championships indoor circuit and promises to show off another blistering Wanamaker mile. Seven time winner Lagat will be challenged by the only athlete who could beat him at last year’s world championships in Berlin, Ethiopian Daresse Mekonnen. On January 29th Lagat will have the opportunity to seek revenge against Mekonnen as well as making Millrose history. The women‘s 1,500m also will feature a strong field, headlined by USA Indoor champion and Olympian Anna Pierce (formerly Willard). Her main rival should be Kenyan Sally Kipyego.

MOSCOW (RUS): 2004 olympic high jump winner Yelena Slesarenko decided to wait with international competitions until her results and technique will be working well. She said that for Russian media after her 187 at Christmas Cup on Sunday in Moscow. “If the shape will be growing I would be happy to be in shape at Russian Championships and qualify for World Indoors in Doha,” she was quoted. Slesarenko changed coaches for 2010 and is having trainings under the guidance of experienced Yevgeniy Zagorulko.
