SAN FRANCISCO (USA): World youth relay champion and individual medalist Ashton Purvis has committed to the University of Miami. Purvis, a senior at St. Elizabeth-Oakland, picked the Florida school over Cal, USC, Texas and Central Florida. Informswww.sfgate.com. Purvis (17) has lifetime best of 11.40 at 100 m and 23.15 at 200 m.

MOSCOW (RUS): Russian 400 m champion and olympic relay medalist Maksim Dyldin added his name into the list of participants in the 600 m race during the Russian Winter Indoor meet. The IAAF permit event planned for February 7th will see in this race a world best attempt by Yuriy Borzakovskiy, Ahmed Ismail and Ali Belal Mansour. Dyldin is holder of the best ever Russian time at 500 m with 1:01.28 in 2008. In the women 400 m the main star will be European indoor champion Antonina Krivoshapka and world finalist Debbie Dunn of USA. Also other Russian top 400 m runners should compete for example Yulia Gushchina or Anastasiya Kapachinskaya.
