KINGSTON (JAM): Jamaican media are informing, that Usain Bolt and Brigitte Foster-Hylton, who were crowned 2009 Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year on Thursday night, have apologized for their late arrival at the nationally-televised RJR Sports Foundation organized event. „We had training and we got held in traffic and we apologized for that,“ Foster-Hylton told the Observer. „It wasn‘t anything intentional,“ added the sprint hurdler. Bolt, who is usually punctual, had a similar explanation for his tardiness. „I heard that rumor too,“ Bolt said, referring to the alleged planned boycott of the event by athletes.

ROME (ITA): The fifth edition of the “Due Perle” Half Marathon announced on the Italian federation’s website www.fidal.it the participation of Stefano Baldini. The half marathon, scheduled on a classic course between Santa Margherita and Portofino, will be Baldini’s return to competitive action after a long training camp in Kenya. “On February 14th my start at Santa Margherita will be an important test for the future, after that we will think about the season in detail. If all goes well, there will be a marathon in the spring” Baldini was quoted. On the women’s side Ornella Ferrara, bronze at the world championships in Goteborg in 1995, is expected to compete.
