WACO (USA): Beijing gold relay medalist Reggie Witherspoon (24) is training to compete this indoor season in his specialty (400m). His best from 2009 is 44.99 outdoors and as High School talent he clocked indoors back in 2003 46.11. He was last time running 400 m indoors in 2007. Now his training is going well at Baylor University and he wants to qualify for World Indoors in Doha.

SOFIA (BUL): Fastest Bulgarian Ivet Lalova has set as main goal for 2010 the 100 m at European Championships in Barcelona. “Shorter sprint is better for me currently as after injuries in recent years I did not had enough time for serious preparation for the 200 m,” she was quoted by Bulgarian media. She also admitted her relationship with one of the fastest Italian sprinters Simone Collio. Both are now learning the languages, she Italian and he Bulgarian.

GLASGOW (GBR): Men´s 60 m hurdles at Aviva International Match in Glasgow on January 30 will see David Oliver competing for USA, Bahamian Shamar Sands for Commonwealth Team and for home side Andy Turner. Still unknown are the entries for Sweden and Germany. 29-year-old Turner who had a resurgence in form last year before injury wrecked his world championships ambitions in August, hopes to kick-start his latest campaign with a return to his winning ways. In similar position is also Oliver who was unable to qualify for Berlin due to injury and came back only later in the season. “Last year started out really well for me as I was clocking fast times. Hopefully I can repeat that again this year, starting with a win in Glasgow. I’m just glad to be back fit again. I can’t wait to get out there and prove why I’m one of the best hurdlers in the world,” says Oliver the olympic bronze medalist from Beijing.
