MONACO: The Marathon Monaco and Riviera, scheduled for March 21 2010 has been canceled because the second round of French provincial elections is being held the same day. A change in the date turned out to be impossible, and Monaco‘s federation will instead organize a half-marathon in two loops on Monaco‘s territory only. The Marathon Monaco and Riviera is the only one in the world to go through 3 countries: Monaco, France and Italy. Informs event website.

ABU DHABI (UAE): The 2010 annual Laureus World Sports Awards will be held this year in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday March 10. For track stars and media it is a good date as they will be already or head to Doha, Qatar for World Indoor Championships which are starting on Friday, March 12. The Laureus World Sports Awards is recognized as the premier honors event in the international sporting calendar and the Awards Ceremony provides a high profile focus as stars of the sporting world come together to salute the finest sportsmen and sportswomen of the year. The 46 members of the Laureus World Sports Academy will vote by secret ballot to select the Award winners. From athletics personalities members of academy are Sergey Bubka, Sebastian Coe, Cathy Freeman, Michael Johnson, Kip Keino, Edwin Moses (Chairman), Nawal El Moutawakel and Daley Thompson.
